The Rolling Library is an abolitionist group that believes in education, not incarceration. But as long as prisons exist, we also believe incarcerated people should have access to books—including new books and books that they want to read.

This winter, we’re teaming up with a local correctional services librarian to collect and deliver books to incarcerated people at Rikers Island. The easiest way to donate is via our partnership with Astoria Bookshop: Simply choose books off our wishlist and put “Rolling Library” in the order notes. These will go directly to us; no need to pay for shipping.

A portion of our wishlist is included below if you want to donate from your own collection (we will also take Spanish-language editions of these). We accept donations Monday nights, 6-8pm, at Astoria Food Pantry. You can also have books shipped to us from ThriftBooks.com, Bookshop.org, or your local indie bookstore. (Please don’t send us books from Amazon.) These can be sent to:

We will only be accepting books off this list and only paperbacks.
